Lake Life: Take 2

Today we returned from a few days spent with friends at their lake house in Michigan City, Indiana. Their kids and ours played so well together, and once again, they couldn't get enough of the water. Both the lake and the pool kept them busy for hours. It was a great trip, and a wonderful way to wind down our summer. Before we left, Jeritt and I celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary. Ironically, we celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary in Michigan City, so it was pretty fitting to be back nine years and three kids later:)
These kids are serious about sand.

Some mom and Ella time.

Maeve was pretty excited to have her baby doll join her for lunch.

On Jack's last day of camp, his teachers helped him summarize his thoughts on his summer. I think it's safe to say Jack loves the water.

Ten-year anniversary date night!

S'mores!

Maeve and Poppy practiced sharing.

Jack and Lyla were good buddies.

The kids had a lot of fun with walkie talkies.

We picked blueberries at the same blueberry patch that Jeritt and I visited on our one-year wedding anniversary.

Recreating the photo Jeritt and I took by this sign in 2008.

Ice cream, you scream!

Lake Life

We began our week with an interesting Monday morning. I discovered a wounded pigeon in our fountain outside, and the kids were determined to save it. After locating a wilderness rescue facility that was very willing to take our pigeon, we captured him and delivered him to the professionals. It was a pretty cool experience, and the kids were excited about having saved a life:) Mid-week, we made a last-minute trip to Wisconsin with my friend, Katie, and her three kids. Katie's parents have a lake house and were amazing hosts. Not only did the kids get to spend some great time together, but they had an absolute blast swimming in the lake, jumping in off the dock, and boating. Jack especially loved it, and was so fearless about leaping into the water. I think he's hooked on lake life! The weekend was spent mostly attending four different kids' birthday parties, so we're all tired tonight.

Popsicles with pals.

They  made fishing poles and spent a lot of time trying to lure a fish.

Ella got to help drive the boat!

Evening boat ride.

She was a little sleepy.

The wounded pigeon that ended up in our fountain.
The wildlife rescue center was happy to have our pigeon!

As soon as we arrived at our friend's lake house, Jack found some hoses.

A movie before bed.

Ella and Becca snuggling.

Such good buddies!

When we got back to Chicago, the temperature dropped considerably. Ella felt the need to really bundle up.

Jack is rocking the big-kid scooter!

Thanks for the awesome shirt, Aunt Abby! It's so appropriate!

A couple of nuts.
