Tummy Time and Tummy Trouble

I know, I know... I'm a little behind. But here are a few photos from last week. Our friends, Mark, Katie, and their daughter, Charlotte, joined us for dinner on Tuesday night, and Ella and Charlotte played together so nicely! It was really cute to see, and made us excited for the day when Jack and Ella can sit on the floor together and play. Jack's tummy issues continue, but we're trying a few remedies and are looking forward to him outgrowing this phase. It's a short post this week, but I promise a gigantic one next week, so stay tuned!

He's getting pretty good at tummy time!

Ella always has to join him.

Highs and Lows

I've realized that life these days seems to be about riding the highs and lows of  juggling two little ones. The high this week was a successful trip to Target with both Ella and Jack in tow. We even managed to pick up everything on our list, including some Valentine's Day treats (note to self, it's hard to surprise a two-year-old when she's in the cart). After experiencing a great sense of accomplishment at having tackled this trip on my own for the first time, I was brought back to reality via sleep deprivation. Between a stuffy nose and some seemingly painful gas, Jack has been having a harder time falling and staying asleep at night. But last night he fell asleep before 11 p.m. - his earliest yet - and just like that we're back to celebrating the high.

As always, Ella has been entertaining us this week, including asking for purple everything (her favorite color at the moment), finally accomplishing 'thank you' (after reading her a book at bedtime the other night she said, 'Thanks, Mom.'), and greeting her daddy at the door with a 'Hi, Jeritt' (much to his dismay). She's also been getting a kick out of playing hide and seek (see the photo below); however, she has yet to understand the basic principles of the game, as she continues to tell us where she's hiding.

We may have forgotten to print the 11-week sign.

Fortunately, Jack can't read yet.

At least someone is getting use out of the potty.
After putting on her own boots, Ella put her shoes on Moo.

A Growing Boy!

Jack's two-month doctor's appointment was this past week, and just as we suspected, he's surpassed what Ella weighed at this age. He is 11 pounds, 8 ounces, and 23 inches long! The vaccine shots were pretty awful (partially because we're just not used to him being anything but happy and mellow), but he's doing great in his growth and development. The rest of the week was pretty low-key, with a lot of time spent indoors and a few play dates along the way. Tonight we celebrated Cousin Abbie's birthday a little early with Jeff, Kristin, Erin, Martin, and Eric. Jack was a trooper, and Ella was, well, a two-year-old:)

Ella received this super cool onesie from our good friend, Nic, and Jack rocks it as well!

Going for a jog with Moo.

We made cookies, and Ella enjoyed eating them.

If we only knew what he was thinking...

Ella thinks it's hilarious that she put her shoes on Ducky.

More cookies.

Abbie took some photos from last week's Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Sunday

So our team may not have won the big game, but we had fun cheering for the 49ers anyway. In other news, Jeritt and Ella went sledding this morning, and she had a great time - asking for 'more' each time they came down the hill. And our very good friend, Sara, came to visit and finally met Jack. They shared many deep conversations and smiles, so just like the rest of us, he's a fan. Whenever you make eye contact with Jack, he gets very excited (probably because a lot of our attention is usually focused on his big sister, as he's usually so content!), and he'll grin and coo like crazy. We'll try to upload a video of it soon!

I'm told this move is called "Kaepernicking," but it was just trademarked, so keep this photo on the DL.

What I'll do for love.

We made a sign to wish Uncle Sam a happy birthday.

This is Ella's new smile that she flashes when she's being photographed.

Jack can already wink!

Please note Ella's socks. She puts them on by herself.

Sara came to visit, and Jack loved chatting with her:)
