Highs and Lows

I've realized that life these days seems to be about riding the highs and lows of  juggling two little ones. The high this week was a successful trip to Target with both Ella and Jack in tow. We even managed to pick up everything on our list, including some Valentine's Day treats (note to self, it's hard to surprise a two-year-old when she's in the cart). After experiencing a great sense of accomplishment at having tackled this trip on my own for the first time, I was brought back to reality via sleep deprivation. Between a stuffy nose and some seemingly painful gas, Jack has been having a harder time falling and staying asleep at night. But last night he fell asleep before 11 p.m. - his earliest yet - and just like that we're back to celebrating the high.

As always, Ella has been entertaining us this week, including asking for purple everything (her favorite color at the moment), finally accomplishing 'thank you' (after reading her a book at bedtime the other night she said, 'Thanks, Mom.'), and greeting her daddy at the door with a 'Hi, Jeritt' (much to his dismay). She's also been getting a kick out of playing hide and seek (see the photo below); however, she has yet to understand the basic principles of the game, as she continues to tell us where she's hiding.

We may have forgotten to print the 11-week sign.

Fortunately, Jack can't read yet.

At least someone is getting use out of the potty.
After putting on her own boots, Ella put her shoes on Moo.
