Another Wedding Weekend

Last Monday was my birthday, and that night we celebrated at home with cake and pie (from the orchard apples). Most people who know me are aware of my love of cake. Apparently, it's something I've passed down to both of my children. They are possibly even more obsessed with cake than I am, and that's saying a lot. The weekend was spent in Iowa, with the kids enjoying a visit with Grandma and Papa C., and Jeritt and I attending the wedding of our good friends, Nic and Savannah. We witnessed their beautiful engagement last November here in Chicago, and it was wonderful to share their wedding day with them. We also spent time with our friend, Sara, as well as my cousin, Lori, and her husband, Shawn. It was a short weekend, but we squeezed in a lot of fun!

My delicious birthday cake.

Jack is mad because he wants pony tails in his hair, too.

Dining al fresco last weekend at a local street fest.

Catching up on his reading in the car.

Ella and George, my cousin Lori's cat.

Shawn and Lori had some pretty awesome toys to play with!

Apple Orchard

With the arrival of fall, it's time for our annual trek to the apple orchard. We found a great spot last year, and despite the insane amount of time it took to park there today (I guess we weren't the only ones who found it), we had a wonderful afternoon. Jack was just a baby in the carrier last fall when we visited, so it was fun to see him enjoy it today. We brought home quite a few apples as well as some delicious donuts. Ella is intent on making an apple pie, so we'll see how that goes!

She's a tree hugger already.

The light in the orchard while we were picking was what I imagine photographers to get excited about. I sure did!

This one might not make the Christmas card.

Earlier in the week, playing trains in a princess gown.

I was distracted while making dinner and they took advantage of our recent trip to Costco.
