Maeve the Mountain Goat

After yet another absolutely gorgeous week of fall weather, which included lots of parks, a picnic, and hardly any outerwear, we've officially entered winter. With the change in temperature, we ended up staying home most of the weekend and making the most of our downtime by decorating for Christmas. Maeve also used the last few days to practice her skills as a mountain goat. She's literally climbing everything she can. The girl has no fear, and is actually pretty agile. No steps yet, but she's keeping us very busy!

My shopping duo!

"Hey guys, do I have something on my face?"

Ella drew this picture of her teacher's aide as a gift. I wonder what she thought of the forehead wrinkles.

Maeve finished her own lunch and started sniffing around Jack's.

We can't keep her off this chair. Her favorite thing is to stand on it.

Our little elves! And yes, we pretty much stayed in pajamas all weekend.

More climbing...

More mountain goating...

Fabulous Fall

We're a little light on photos this week. Ella and Jack were both off school on Friday, and joined Dad at work for the morning. They were up, dressed, and ready to go much faster than they are on school days! Maeve is really on the move, and we constantly find her in the bathroom, trying to get into the toilet (yuck!). Last week she put an entire roll of toilet paper in the toilet. Thanks, Maeve. Otherwise, we're just making the most of these gorgeous fall days with lots of trips to the park!

This girl is trouble! She loves throwing the wine corks out of this vase.

Launching rockets at the park.

Ella's first school photo!

Go Cubs Go!

Wow, what a week! After kicking it off with Halloween, we continued to cheer on the Cubs in the World Series, and since their spectacular victory Wednesday night, we've been celebrating with the rest of Chicago. The kids watched some of the games (we woke Ella up for the last inning of Game 7), and they've been singing the "Go Cubs Go" song non-stop. In a rare moment of bravery, I decided to take all three kids to the Cubs parade by myself on Friday. After standing in a crowded mass of people for 45 minutes before the parade even started, the kids not being able to see anything other than a bunch of rear ends at eye level, having all three of them crying and asking to go home, and then facing the craziness of the Red Line post-parade, I was questioning my decision-making. However, we made it, and today we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and made the trek to Wrigley again. The atmosphere is truly amazing right now, and it was so cool to see it in person. We capped off the weekend with a leaf pile-jumping photo shoot at the park. Hopefully Daylight Saving time allows us to catch up on some needed sleep tonight! P.S., I posted a video of Maeve mid-week if you want to check it out below.

Waiting for the Red Line to Wrigley for the parade.
What a crowd. Made it pretty difficult to see the parade!

Jack asking to go home.

Maeve is not enthused.

Ella gave up on the parade and started playing in the dirt.

We stopped for refreshments on the way home and watched the rest of the parade on TV.

A perfect weekend for fall clean-up.

Another trip to Wrigley. And yes, our kids need Cubs shirts.

The chalk wall.

Visiting the Wrigley fire station.
