April Fool's Day

A happy belated April Fool's Day to you all! The kids and I truly embraced the day and played pranks on each other and Dad. We frosted a cookie with a combination of sour cream, cream cheese, flour, and garlic salt, and while Jack was totally in on the joke, he still asked for half of it. To end the day, we played a game the kids received called "Bean Boozled." If you're not familiar, it's a game where jelly beans look like normal flavors, but some of them are extremely gross flavors such as boogers, dog food, skunk spray, and barf. The kids begged for days to play it, but I convinced them to wait until Jeritt could join us. I honestly thought Jack's love of jelly beans would cause him to eat all of them, but even he was grossed out. While Maeve didn't partake in the jelly bean game, she did get to try her first "food" this weekend. Ella was the most excited, and Maeve was such a good sport, but it will probably be a while before she's gobbling down food.

Poor Maeve. I left her alone with Ella for too long.

Big kid at the table!

Elsa and her dragon.

A nice enough day for bubbles.

We were both tired.

Ella loves to work in her pre-K workbook, so Jack told Ella he had a lot of work to do, too.

Lately Meave has been so entertained by her big brother.

Playing Bean Boozled!

We thought he was going to barf after getting the "barf" jellybean.

We returned to the Children's Museum for more fun!

Looks like mid-January, not April.

Sisters!

After more than six months of planning, we finally finished the gallery wall of photos!

After a day of snow we enjoyed 60 degree weather. Tomorrow it's supposed to be a high of 37. What?!

More museum fun. This was definitely Jack's favorite exhibit.

Using a real saw!

Maeve getting ready to try oatmeal for the first time!

Ella was so excited for her to try food.

"Why did you guys make me do that?"

"Ok, I forgive you!"

Happy Easter!

Heads up, this is a long one. There were just too many good photos, and I'll admit, I think our baby is very photogenic. We had a great Easter weekend, beginning with a trip to the Children's Museum on Friday, followed by our yearly egg hunt with friends on Saturday, and capping it off with Easter lunch with Uncle Jeff, Aunt Kristin, Jace, and Finley on Sunday. Happy Easter everyone!

We made a trip to the Chicago Children's Museum. It was very cool and we're already planning to go back next weekend!

Ella waiting to start the hunt.

A "girls" selfie. Maeve is under the hat, and Ella threw up the peace sign all on her own. I'm afraid she might already be cooler than me.

Jack and Finley on Easter.

Serious piano playing dudes.

Ella wore this outfit for her first Easter, too.
But she wasn't as happy about it (circa April 2011).

She actually looks like a bunny in this one!

Checking out what the Easter bunny brought her.

And the candy eating begins... For every one piece of candy that Jack asked permission to eat we later realized he was eating five behind our backs.

A little photo shoot in my dress from when I was a baby.
And Ella wore it, too!

Maeve is super photogenic but by this time she'd had enough.

I love how terrible this photo is.

Waiting to begin our hunt at home. Note how excited Ella is to begin and how Jack is just eating candy. Maybe you see how this is going to play out.

Ella continues to race around grabbing every egg she finds and Jack continues to open each egg he stumbles upon and eat the candy before looking for the next one.

He's excited because he spotted candy that he dropped on the sidewalk.

More dropped candy.
