A Rainy Weekend

What a rainy, dreary weekend in Chicago. Up until now we've been able to spend so much of our time outside, so we struggled with what to do with an active toddler when the weather didn't cooperate. Fortunately in Chicago you can find a neighborhood Starbucks on nearly every corner, and they are always family friendly. Clad in rain boots, Ella made two coffee runs on Saturday, catching up on some reading and playing. We also took advantage of our indoor time over the weekend to carve Ella's first pumpkin. Grandma V. brought a few out last month, and we thought Ella would surely enjoy getting her hands slimey with pumpkin goo. Turns out, she's not a fan. In fact, Ella seems to be terrified of pumpkin carving, and had no interest in helping her dad scoop the goo. It was all we could do to get her to appear in a photo with the pumpkin. Maybe next year!

We had to stop during our walk to play in the leaves.

Joining Daddy for his weekend Starbucks run.
Sadly, she now recognizes Starbucks and gets upset when she doesn't get a treat (vanilla milk).

Second Starbucks run of the day.

Not a fan of the pumpkin.
